Man this is awesome, they managed to re target Andy Serkis performance onto Benedict cumberbatch's face!

This is where the tech really shines. It's great on human faces, but we're too familiar with them to not pick out the small oddities. But the unfamiliar gives this the wiggle room it needs to *really* cross over to realism

I don't know whats more impressive...The cgi or Andy Serkis performance. Amazing!

I think the power of this technology really shines with this example. Where the "uncanny valley" 3D Andy Serkis isn't *quite* believable enough yet to truly trick you (although it gets *very* close), this 3D model of a completely alien creature lends itself extremely well to the actor's minute facial expressions. Because we're not constantly comparing the face on-screen to what exactly we'd expect from a human face (since it's not human), the micro-expressions and facial gestures come out so very strikingly. The result is an incredibly stunning performance by 3D alien Andy Serkis.
Great stuff guys!

Just imagine you start up a regular action/adventure/RPG and play through a typical tutorial level. And then your character gets captured and this is how you're introduced to the villain.

Almost four years old and still impressing me, both this technology and the wonderful performance of Andy Serkis himself

That's really awesome.
we come to the point where the actor behind these 3d animations is even more important than the technology put in place.
I am speechless.

I appreciate that this is a video showcasing a technology, but, and it’s a huge but, Andy Serkis’ delivery of Macbeth’s ‘Tomorrow…’ soliloquy is absolutely incredible.

I like his rendition more than I do other Shakespearian-trained actors such as Sir Ian McKellen or Sir Patrick Stewart.

Absolutely mind blowing. The alien reciting Shakespeare is an added plus 😊😂

This is the best rendition of this speech

Looks like a Zora and Hugo Weaving were mixed together. Probably the most badass alien humanoid design I've seen. I like this iteration much better than the human demo.

This is even more impressive and immersive than Andy himself. It doesn't uncanny us, and it plays so so well with the rig. Really beautiful. Even the eyes seem to play better in this version.

It’s amazing how far we’ve come in animation particularly in video games. we’ve come from just simple pixels, 2D animation or if you really wanna go far back then there’s the paintings of ancient times. It’s incredible on how far we’ve gotten in this regard to me.

Oh my, if only "FaceRig" could capture such a detailed mimic...

I would pay BIG MONEY to see the entire play created like this - show it at The National in 3D or the BFI Imax and you'd recoup the production costs in no time! What an astounding "Event" such a production would be - the perfect blend of Cinema, Theatre, 3D Craftsmanship and Technology. Oh please let there be an investor with the foresight to bring such a project to fruition....
