If you read the Gartner Salon interview, the bottom line point is that Gartner predicts that as Trump’s apparent dementia condition worsens, Trump will be increasingly unrestrained and increasingly maniacal and vindictive with destructiveness feeding his unchecked ego. That is a scary scenario.

I cannot, and will not, attempt to make a diagnosis of the mental state of either as I am not a qualified psychologist, but this much is clear and it should be readily apparent to anyone who pays attention to either of them: Joe Biden is a decent and caring individual who has - whatever faults anyone may wish to attribute to him - a wealth of knowledge of world affairs. Trump, on the other hand, is neither decent nor caring with respect to anyone else, and his dearth of knowledge of world affairs is abysmal. Biden: "It is about YOU, the People." Trump: "It is about ME, ME, and - in case you missed it - ME!"

As a Disabled combat veteran I am sickened every time I see Trump "dry humping" and wrapping himself with our flag - under which I served and earned my disability - and it brings to mind a line spoken by our first President, George Washington, in his Farewell Address: "Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism." Trump's "pretended patriotism" is nothing more than an example of his self-focused and selfish obsession with himself.

I am a MSW with a graduate certificate in Dementia. This is what I do for a living. David is exactly right - Biden’s “gaffes” are all part of normal aging. Trump, I believe (without having assessed him), has dementia - probably frontal lobe with a comorbidity of Alzheimer’s disease. I would love to do cognitive testing on him!!

As an expert in language acquisition and use (but not a doctor), I am gob smacked at how much commentators opine on Biden’s age and his fairly unremarkable gaffs. Yet the actual and obvious positive outcomes of the Biden administration are virtually ignored. Trump on the other hand, perpetually comes out with discourse loaded with non-words and virtually totally lacking in ANY coherence. Trump’s speeches are just a scattershot of grievances, threat and victimhood to rile up his supporters. So Biden’s old, so what? The difference in cognitive ability between the two is stark. If most voters can’t see the difference, America is lost.

Before my sister died, she was showing signs of dementia. One of those signs was in her speech. She would use different words for things and I couldn't figure out what she was talking about. Then she would treat me like I was stupid.

Not sleeping at night, loosing language skills, not recognising people close to him sometimes, obsession, temper tantrums and living in an alternative reality. Sometimes he seemed normal and the doctor told me this was common and made caring and diagnosing difficult
