L2 is actually the point where the sum of the gravitational pulls of Earth and the sun (both pulling in the same direction, centripetally at the L2 point) are counterbalanced by the centrifugal force of an object in that solar orbit radius. Indeed, the centrifugal force is a counterbalance at all Lagrange points. Even at L1, which is the only L point where the two primary masses are pulling against each other. This should be in the discussion more, while everyone's gaining awareness of Lagrange points because JWST. Of course, the centrifugal "force" is not actually a force, any more than "gravity" is, but anyway...
