Pug With Back Problem

Показать описание
Buster the pug has breathing problems, is overweight, and has back problems. His back problems stem from a defective vertebrae and one of his discs in his lumbar region pushing on the spinal cord to not allow full function. The result is that he can't really feel where his back legs are and he is real wobbly

So you are saying that in this case he does not need surgery, just need better quality of food and less food?

In german shepherds and corgis it is deterioration of the spinal cord, In pugs it is a defective vertebrae and disc.Manipulation of genetics has harmed most breeds to some degree

I had a Shih Tzu X age 6.5 and he was looking obese. I did not overfeed/good diet.Turns out he had Cushing's disease. He weighed 31lbs on Vetoryl for 1.5 yrs and thyroid pills.
Sadly, he was suddenly put to sleep last July, as his heart had gotten enlarged and failed from the disease. Why did the Vetoryl(30 mg 2x daily dosing) not help in his weight loss. Could his enlarged heart have been prevented?Only took 1 year for heart to get huge. Koda was my 1st dog as an adult.Still mourn his passing.

My pug started dragging legs especially when she just wakes up. Its like she does in and out of paralysis. Shs used to run like a jackrabbit. Now she still fetches but wobbles and I don't throw tiny ball far. Shes 13.5 yrs and weight is 13 lbs. Shes small, eats meat with nutritional yeast. I'm worried about her. Any improvements for other pugs with diet changes?

So these problems are essentially due to a malfunction of the myelin? Is is degradation of the Myelin?

Incidentally, I wish all these Pugs good happy lives but I honestly think it should be illegal to breed them. The search for their aesthetic look has left this breed with horrendous health and it just seems so unnecessary to me.

Most of these problems are from genetics resulting from pure breeding. You could not have prevented these medical problems. I believe better ingredients, home cooked, or raw food may give some dogs more quality time

Glucosamine chondroitin nourishes the joints(even in the back) and decreases pain.Fish oil pills also may decrease the pain( one capsule three times weekly). Low dose aspirin can be given if no other NSAIDS are given(1 80 mg pill 1-2 x daily). Raw chicken wings also contain glucosamine /chondroitin, I feed them RAW to my dogs

They are actually all due to similar causes in the disc/vertebrae area. Sometimes the spinal cord just gets squished and the dog, like yours, is paralyzed. Sorry to hear that!

Check with your counselor regarding requirements. Study hard and get excellent grades. Volunteer at groomers, trainers, or vet office. You need hours of experience

how old? If he has disc compression of the spinal cord, cortisone will work. If it is an older shepherd with myelopathy, then he will continue to be paralysed and get worse

Out of compassion pugs shouldn't exist they suffer, they were bred wrong and are deformed very sad

Wait a few days to a week. As long as she is using her legs, the treatment may not change. If she gets worse or painful, an MRI is a good idea. Pretty young for a disc problem, hopefully it is not a birth defect in her vertebrae or spine.

I know that some hamsters can be naturally scared and mean!

He seems like a pretty friendly dude, though. He's obviously loved, just a little bit too much on the food side of things.
