We dont have that many homeless people in our small town but this is a wonderfully generous idea and it makes me love you all the more!! I have a neighbor that I help out all the time cuz they dont always have food all month so I help them out as much as possible plus we try to pass along our old furniture and clothes to those who need them...I think its nice to do what we can for others cuz karma really works both ways so being generous always seems to come back to you and so does being selfish and uncaring. You are a great inspiration!!

I would recommend you contact a homeless shelter to see what homeless people in your area really need. The idea is great but you can't put things like peanut butter crackers or granola in those bags because people do have allergies. Toothpaste, mouthwash and toothbrushes are a good idea but again not practical when you're truly homeless as you don't have access to running water or a place to store your toothbrush. Disposable toothbrushes are better since it's prepackaged and can be thrown away. Do not give mouthwash to someone you don't know since you don't know if the person is a recovering alcoholic and things like mouthwash and hand sanitizer are big no nos. My step-father was a recovering alcoholic and those were things he had to avoid. More practical items: flushable baby wipes, toilet paper, bath wipes (available at medical supply stores), deodorant, collapsible water bottles (homeless may have access to water fountains to drink from but not to bathe so having a water bottle they can carry is nice). A cheap t-shirt ($1 at dollar stores) is nice along with socks. In the winter those hand and foot warmers are nice along with mittens and scarfs. The "Blessing Bag" is a great idea but again be mindful of what you're putting in those bags so talk to your local homeless shelter reps to see what you should be putting in those bags.
