It’s an absolute beauty, I own a 7.5 GTI PP but see this as my dream yet affordable car. The only thing I’d change on yours is keeping the original alloys, I prefer the VW alloys to the OZ, but I’m being very picky. Just love this car, even more now the MK8 GTI hunk of junk has been released. Good vlog Volks and HNY to you.

Hi Andrew,

Good video. I have a GTI TCR with the akrapovic exhaust. Bought 2nd hand in June 2020 with 6, 000 km and now at 18, 000 km. It's an amazing car, very fun and capable but also very composed and comfortable due to the DCC. My car has had:
- a cracked sunroof frame which was repaired under warranty after a lengthy dispute with my local dealer (whom I did not buy the car from) and VW Spain directly.
- many rattles/crunching noises from the sunroof (when closed, the rattles seem to come from the rubber seals. Good clean and lubrication with WD-40 specialist with PTFE did a good job mitigating the crunch, however it is very hard to reach the rear rubber seals of the pan roof and I can't fully get rid of it). Whenever the roof is in the inclined open position, it rattles like crazy whenever i drive over uneven surfaces (in normal or sport mode).
- Some dynaudio speakers seem to be getting loose and sometimes rattle/crackle (especially with bass)
- The drivers side door also makes a similar crunching noise as the pan roof, once again related to the rubber seals

I've filmed some media of the faults and will go to my dealer next week. Other than that im very happy with the car. I've turned off the Sound actuator with obdeleven and the akrapovic exhaust sounds really beautiful. Definitely sounds better than the stock exhaust. Brakes tend to overheat quickly and squeak when i go on some mountain hooning. Cheers.

I love my TCR. Had a 245PP before and the difference is amazing. I've had 40 mpg too. I just can't remember which ski slope I was on that day!

I had the same rattle on my TCR, it turned out to be where the seat clamps into the locking mechanism. A simple bit of material to stop it being metal on metal sorted the problem out. It must be a VAG thing, as I had the same problem with my S3 saloon.

Very informative video Andrew from a real drivers perspective, stunning car. The 3 door in grey is sublime, I had my reifnitz alloys transformed from a dull matt black to gloss black with a diamond cut polished face, the purists will not like the result but the look is outstanding. I'm glad I went for the mk 7.5 tcr in Nov 2021, a real super looking car with the low mileage il do.

The mk 7.5 GTI for TCR is a gem. Never sell it. Imo it’s the best GTI VW have ever made. They are holding their prices so well. I think you absolutely love the car, because you said you love looking at it. Cherish it mate and just enjoy.

Every time I see an update on the TCR it re-affirms I did the right thing getting one. I had a 7.5 gti PP before and this is in another league completely. It’s just so much more gutsy and sharp in every way and only maybe 10% more to run. A no brainer for me

Hi I like the idea of fitting the stainless foot rest, so can you say where you got yours from and what’s involved fitting it ?
The only mod’ that I have done to my TCR is the DSG paddles, I fitted quality alloy paddles which replace the plastic paddles and are easy to fit but the transform the gear change .

Just had some winter tyres fitted to my GTI 7.5PP and it's just snowed, so if it's still on lanes in the morning I'm off out 😊.
Done 11k in my April 19 is just so much fun and so easy to drive and live with.
I've got dsg, took a while to get used to it but wouldn't swop now.

Happy New Year!!! Love the looks and specs of the TCR! Only wish we yanks weren’t so hung up on SUV’s and muscle cars, so that we’d get some of the awesome cars that are available in Europe! Ah, well, here’s hoping the new Golf GTI and R mk8’s are as good as they seem to be, though getting to America, may muck them up! Happy driving!
