Why Do We Get Hangnails?

Hangnails suck. So why do get them? Ana gives you her thoughts on the matter.

I've noticed if I have to do a bunch of paperwork I tend to get more hangnails. One way to prevent this is to purchase a pair of gardening gloves at the Dollar store. Get the kind with the nubby fingers. They work great if you have to do any filing or sorting of papers. Or wear your Nitrile or rubber gloves.🙂

Ana - is there a difference between what feels like normal "skin" hangnails and the hangnails that seem to be like tiny pieces of my nail at my side wall sticking up? Are they both considered hangnails?

I always specifically get hangnails on my left middle finger

I guess my problem is because I do alot of things with my fingers and it makes it dry sometimes

I had a bad habit of biting my nails. I think that’s what did it for me.

I’d always suffered from hangnails. They became worse when I got a cat. Apparently her fur was making my hands drier.

I started using Bliss Kiss about four years ago and when I’m consistent, I have no problems.
