#3 - huge success

This has to be number one life advice. The world is not pure sunshine and roses. Mistakes happen, and make it an effort as a person to understand them. Frameworks like 5 Ws can really help. I am not trying to stretch this topic, but I like the fact that prime mentioned it as an important skill.

I remember the time when I was 6-7 and was trying to run GTA vice city on a PC with 93MB of RAM, no video card. It didn't run and gave me an error "not enough video memory". I spent a few days sifting through settings and saw a place where I could change it. And that was how I got my game running (at 2 fps). I always read the error messages since then.

Yep, great advice. In my area (mostly web/backend stuff) there is (almost) not one error i dont know exacly how i've caused it. That makes my life way easier.

As a self taught this is 100% true, it may look like you waste years of learning things the hard way but those shtty concept and error will forever be in the back of your head which can make you very competitive of learning fundamentals.

I understand why people get frustrated with errors. At this point in my career I enjoy the process. If only there were less layers of abstraction.

Incredibly grateful that school made us learn Java before touching the cool trendy languages. Error and Type handling is a mess in something like JS and Python
