This Saturday we are going to learn how to play "Don't Be Cruel" by Elvis Presley. "Don't Be Cruel" is a song that was recorded by Elvis Presley and written by Otis Blackwell in 1956. In 2004, it was listed #197 in Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The single was released on July 13, 1956, backed with "Hound Dog".Within a few weeks "Hound Dog" had risen to #2 on the Pop charts with sales of over one million. Soon after it was overtaken by "Don't Be Cruel," which took #1 on all three main charts; Pop, Country, and R'n'B. Between them, both songs remained at #1 on the Pop chart for a run of 11 weeks.
This Ukulele tutorial contain the intro riff, the chord progression, the strum pattern, the verse and then how to play the melody of the verse with the tabs on the screen, the bridge, the coda, the outro riff and then a full play-along. No, I can't sing like Elvis, even though he was a baritone voice he had some range and he wasn't able to hit the high notes fairly easily. The D note in the verse is too high for my voice, I would sing this video down a whole step in C, and even then being honest tuning the guitar a half step down and playing it in B would be much more in my wheel house. Knowing your vocal range can be very beneficial to properly singing a song, but i want to teach you the song in the key of the recording as as a result it won't sound very well sung but you will be able to play along with the recording perfectly and when you do you can sing along with Elvis and master the song.
