You should also glue and screw the sistered joists and shim at beams/ledgers. The weak point of sistering is that the structure is now only supported by the fasteners in the new joists unless the ends are properly supported.

Leveling a floor makes perfect sense! You know what else makes perfect sense? Insulating the floor while you have everything open. If not for temperature regulating, also to help with noise….

He's actually right on using stud. Stud is just a very old laymen term for "support". Joists are forms of studs whereas wall studs aren't forms of joists.

(joist means "to throw" implying you can throw wood on top of them)

Floor joists not floor studs. Studs are in the walls and rafters are overhead

If a joist can't be sistered and it's just gonna be held in place by fasteners you might as well just use 2x4s and save yourself some money.

Calling it studs makes it easier for the diy community. Also makes it so a diy person doesn't have to attempt using self leveler. Cool tips
