New to Garageband for Beginners

GarageBand is one of those pieces of software which has dramatically evolved over time. You can use it for basic audio projects or for actual composing (yes with some limitations, but it is still pretty incredible). This is the first in a seven part tutorial with David A. Cox and Ben Pegg.

I'm totally new to GB & have decided to use it as my DAW & maybe after learning it upgrade to Logic. For now though I like to write anything from grungy stoner metal to extreme metal. At first this software really overwhelmed me, even after watching several tutorials. I'm doing everything myself & play guitar so drums is what's going to be pretty slow going for me because I don't want to just use already programmed beats, samples, & loops, I want it to actually write the drum parts & lay them down. Anyways, this is BY FAR the BEST GB Beginners tutorial I have seen. Thank you SO much for doing it & I cannot wait to follow up with more. You guys explain not just what things are & where but why it would be useful. So again thank you very much.

I love that you are covering GarageBand. I've used this a little bit on Mac OS and was checking it out on iPad but my first impression on iOS was hell no. This ain't gonna work. For song writing, I think it is too much for iOS. Loops on iOS, yeah I can see that working but for song writing I'll have to stick with the Mac version.

I wish I had a class like this when I was getting into Logic Pro X. Because they seemed to have moved so much around from Logic 9 to 10. It was really frustrating to me.  Glad you are doing this with Garageband because I think your style of teaching is a great style for anybody that wants  to learn. And in my opinion a style that is a staple amongst youtube educators.  If it wasn't for Garageband (which I adored).  It really motivated me to get into Logic Pro.  I really think GB  is one of the greatest softwares for recording and is fantastic stepping stone for those that want to get into Logic Pro.  I can see people not even having to go into Logic Pro especially if they are passionate soloist such as finger style-guitar piano etc. I think Garageband is really great for pianist and solo guitarist.

 Because you don't always need or want too much complexity when your primary purpose is to not get lost in the intricacies of too many control panels and get down to business in the art of solo craftsmanship.  I know it was the vein in how I produced so much music that I basically give away for free. I recorded a few hundred pieces of music and uploaded it and received a bunch of fans for it in the process because I used Garageband!  Love it!

This was finally a tutorial that cuts through the chit chat and tells me what I need to know. I have watched the 5 videos but want more!!! Where can I find more videos for Garge band version 10. I am a singer/songwriter.
