Thank you for this review. Most of the reviews I've found on this phone just go through the checklist of all the great things and leave it at that, they're all basically the exact same video. Thank you for giving your honest opinion and really going through the phone. I just got this phone on a special carrier deal for $140 Canadian dollars. Super excited to check it out. I think it'll be really good for my use case.

Hello Ryan. I appreciate your review of the TCL 20 Pro 5G smart phone. I've been looking at this phone for the last two weeks...watching various review/unboxing videos on YouTube and reading articles related to this device.

It seems the two main criticisms of the TCL 20 Pro include the absence of a second loudspeaker on the top of the phone (which I don't care about since I always use headphones) and the fact that the screen only has a 60 Hz refresh rate. I guess people have commented that pretty much all mid-level and high end phones (aside from the iPhones) have higher refresh rates...90 Hz (at minimum), 120 Hz, and even 144 Hz. I read that next year's iPhone 13 will have a 120 Hz screen.

Is the 60 Hz screen really an issue. I'm sure it a pretty nice phone, but I want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth, and I've been apprehensive about buying a phone with a 60 Hz screen when a number of phones in the same price range have faster screens. Hec, the new Motorola Edge 20 5G phone (priced at around $500) has a 144 Hz screen. I'm not a gamer. I'll be using my phone for basic stuff as well as streaming on YouTube, and I'll be reading my ebooks on my Amazon Kindle app. Is the 60 Hz refresh rate really a concern? Would you recommend the Motorola Edge 20 instead? I look forward to your response.
