Tom doesn't speak for four seasons and the second he opens his mouth, I'm floored. I replayed this scene over and over again. He needs to have more speaking scenes.

To me this is one of the most powerful scenes in the show. What makes it so for me is the amount that Tom has observed. He pretty much wrapped up Olivia Pope in this one scene. Helen of Troy. The face that launched a thousand ships. Also, did anyone else notice how he said "my" president and not "the" president. He may have been a B6-13 agent but he had a connection with his president. They were brothers. Even Command could not take that away from him.

"I could protect my president from everyone...except for you Miss Pope." What a powerful statement.

Well done Mrs. Shonda Rhimes.

This actor played this scene beautifully. The dialogue was flawless. This is just one example of why there are no other network dramas that can match "Scandal". Tom's "my president" is so fervent, impassioned & his anguish over Fitz's heartbreak can be felt. I cannot wait to see Rowan's response to this betrayal. Olivia came through, after weeks of her seemingly helplessness at Jake's imprisonment. Flawless!

I was wondering when they would post this.  It made my heart flutter.  He was so right, they all love her.  They fight for her, hurt her, but their end game is always always the need of her.  But Tom played that part the face that launched a thousand ships.
