Max Christie finished in the 41st percentile as an iso defender in the 2023-24 season. In this video, I take a look at his strengths & weaknesses there.

Everybody consumed about the Luka-AD trade. Max Christie, AD, and Gafford will provide a perennial defense. Even OKC will have a hard time scoring.

I'm here as a Mavs fan! I think Max Christie is an underrated part of the trade. Everyone is focused on Anthony Davis age, and that he is injury prone. But our long run hope is that Max Christie develops into a top level 3 and d guy on the peremeter. Luka needs motivation to stay in shape. I hope the Lakers, for their sake, can motivate him.

One of the most infuriating things about Ham, was he rarely seemed to use Christie. I really hope the Lakers follow what Rob Pelinka said in that they expect Christie to get a much bigger role along with Knecht coming in.

Great Points however, MaxC is Young Enough to Improve on His Weak Areas. And, bcuz AR/D’Lo are Par/Subpar Defenders, We have to put Max on the Court with AR or D’Lo so, He will have to guard The Best Guard when He’s on The Court.

Now i understand why watching Max defend was so confusing from game 2 game. Max bulked up a lot and still got ran thru all the time. If he can knock down 2-4 shots a game i think thatll help his confidende on D too

Building himself physically is his biggest need. He needs to follow the Randle and Caruso example.

max got a lot stronger during the off season and was able to improve his defense against the more physical guards

I've been really high on Max last season but darvin never used him well.
Hopefully JJ will use him more so we can see his potential

Max is young and definitely has strengths and weaknesses but the other guard defending options or AR/Dlo/GV I think he’s our best option tbh and the minutes need to reflect that.

Once (IF!) Max gets some PT under his belt - as well as a little more bulk, I would expect all that bully-ball on him to stop. Refs have yet to recognize the forearms to his chest. Rookies never get that call. Max has energy and length though on his side so my guess is once (IF!) the playing field is leveled a bit, he will be one of the top perimeter defenders in the league. He needs some PT (and patience) though. Key.

What you think about this eventual lineup? After Knecht proves he light out and Vando proves his worth when paired to protect Dlo on his defensive weaknesses??? Dlo and Knecht being the 3 point shooters Bron needs and AD and Vando doing it all on Defense

I think they've increased ballhandler contact when you move with the ball handler to offset court size so it should be easier to play on ball D if you move your feet but ballhandlers will have more space to operate.
