Top 5 Alternatives to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in 2022

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is an icon and rightfully so. The luxury steel sports watch with an integrated bracelet was the first of its kind, and it’s been copied quite a bit since 1972. We even made a meme about it for our Instagram page.

The Royal Oak shot up in market value for years before starting to come back down to earth in 2022. This does not mean that they are more available at retail or that much more accessible on sites like ours. For example, we’re still seeing the 41mm 15500ST selling for more than twice it’s retail price on Chrono24.

It’s also a watch that will attract attention. This is good news if you’re looking for a status symbol, but not so good news if you want something that will fly under the radar.

This is especially true in the time of heightened watch thefts around the world. There are also a lot of great watches out there with a similar spirit that deserve more of our attention. So, with that in mind, we thought we’d highlight 5 watches to consider instead.

GP Laureato is an underrated alternative. I saw that watch in real life for the first time yesterday, it's beautiful, it's one of those watches that the pictures don't really do justice.

The Maurice Lacroix Aikon is another one at around $1500.
Used to have one and it was pretty awesome. 200M water resistance, comes in a 39 or 42mm variant, and a bunch of different color ways.

Thomas, I'd like to also add the Glashutte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date from their Vintage Collection. In addition to the beautiful blue sunburst dial, they've added "Disco Blue", "Vibing Orange", and "Fab Green" (one of my favorites). Another integrated design like the others with an MSRP starting at $13, 400 USD. The "Disco Blue" and "Vibing Orange" are limited editions of 100. An absolutely beautiful watch!

The Tissot PRX isn't inspired by the royal oak. It actually was a seastar from back in the day

Why don't reviews every look at a watch like the PRX and do a little research? The PRX is an updated reissue of a watch from Tissot own past catalogue. Side by side pictures of the Tissot original and the current watch have been posted many times online. It's been said and posted about so many times I just think anyone getting it wrong now is just lazy.

Vacheron constantin overseas is the same level for the royaloak and its hard to git from AD and price market its almost the same with the royaloak no much difference to be honest we whant them both
