As a local to the area myself who has been out helping in a lot of different townships, I have to say that I really, REALLY appreciate the calm music. For a while I just could not add watching any on-screen footage; more than what my nervous system could handle above what we were seeing in person/real life on a daily basis. But with this calming (not adding extra drama) music, I can watch it. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing! People have no idea just how bad it really is!

As many times as I’ve seen it, it ALWAYS blows me away that concrete bridge could be carried away and deposited so far downstream! And it always breaks my heart seeing the lives of these people washed away, left to start over! I cannot imagine………..

Again thanks for giving us so much information. People should not forget the loss of these Americans. Please help as you can. The news media has forgotten the suffering these people are going through. WHY !!!!

Thanks for sharing the ground footage with the drone videos. The amount of devastation visible on the ground is even worse in spots than what can be seen from the drone.

Thank you for sharing. Calming music sets the whole video. My heart is saddened for all those who suffered through this and the devastating experience. May God Bless all of you.

There should be no money going to any country before we take care of our own

No matter how many videos I've seen, I'll never be able to understand the power of water. Moving such heavy and huge things like bridge pieces and buildings right off their foundations. It's horrifying. Very important for this to be out there for people to see. Soemtimes it feels personal but it's good you put it out. I wish I had taken many more videos up here in Avery County. There is a part of me that wants to forget it but it shouldn't be forgotten.

As a writer and instructor, I have traveled through Green Mountain, through Relief and many other villages and towns in upper western NC and my soul aches to see these scenes. My heart is so much with those in the mountains and I always keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope to travel up that way in the next month or 2 to document the area as I want to write about the Hurricane that forever changed WNC. Thank you to the video guy who has recorded this work and of the old Clinchfield line as I am also a railroad man. Thank you and God Bless You and everyone.

It’s sad there’s very little news coverage, forgotten disaster, our government has failed and forgotten these people…..

I''ve heard that Whitson's store was a distribution hub, but now I know what it looks like. The devastation is mind-blowing.

Great video-this gives me mixed emotions. It is interesting to watch but is also very depressing. I hope everyone stays strong and gets thru this.

What a video ! I wouldn’t drive that road if you paid me. You can’t turn around and places looked so iffy. This is devastation beyond your wildest imagination. God help these people.

I’m a county over and have worked a lot in this area. I haven’t been there since the storm. This has been the place I been wondering about. I knew it was bad but dang it. I’m going to drive over and look for myself.

There is still several train cars in the Catawba river, where the trestle crosses from Catawba County to Iredell County. They rolled off the tracks in the big flood and I am sure are well over 1000' down the river from the old railroad track. The railroad thought they were going to save the railroad tracks by parking boxcars on the track off both sides of the river. Iredell county side gave way with the train.
