When you consider how many generations under difficult conditions have won this wonderful masterpiece, it breaks my heart!

I've always wanted to go see it. So beautiful. I'm heartbroken like truly heartbroken that such a tragedy has happened to this building that has defined france for centuries.

The notre dame was my entry into Europe. I left new Zealand aged 40..taxied straight from the airport. The bells were tolling loud, as pavorotti just passed away. I fell to my knees and entered..went straight to the confessional and gave all the weight of my sins there. Thus began a 12 year romance with Europe.

Images all this architecture lost in the fire. So much history, so little time. Gone. Breaks my heart to see so much history go

I'm from Omaha Nebraska USA. We had an iconic building burn and collapse except for the facade of the building. It was known as the M's Pub building. Three years later I'm walking by it and as I pass it....I realize that this is the rebuilt version of the building! It was like it had never happened. I hope they can painstakingly restore this beautiful building to its original grandeur like the building here in Omaha.

So happy to have climbed those 350 plus stone stairs and spent time just sitting in the cathedral. It will come back again and so will I.

It saddens me greatly to see the flames of last week almost destroy a symbol of the skyline of Paris, but to say a heart felt thank you too the firefighters and police for saving price less artifacts and irreplaceable treasures from certain destruction. As seeing the church up close I'll never forget that time I saw it in person. She will be rebuilt and stand as she has been for over 800 years . Happy Easter to you and the peoples of France
