I had no idea how much went into making boots by hand...
********************************

Hi friends! In this video I tour the Nick's Handmade Boots factory in Spokane, WA. There I attempt the seemingly impossible challenge of designing and making a boot in 12 hours. To say that I underestimated how much went into the process is an understatement. 😅

Huge Thank You to @nicksboots for letting me come and poke around for a day! Go and check them out. I'm a fan!

MORE ABOUT ME

I'm Anne of All Trades. In NASHVILLE, I have a woodworking, blacksmithing and fabrication shop, a selection of furry friends, and an organic farm. Whether you've got the knowledge, tools, time or space to do the things you've always wanted to do, everything is "figureoutable."

I became "Anne of All Trades" out of necessity. With no background in farming or making things, I wanted to learn to raise my own food, fix things when they break and build the things I need.

8 years ago I got my first pet, planted my first seed and picked up my first tool.

My goal is to learn and share traditional techniques and skills while showing my peers how to get from where they are to where they want to go, how to do the things they are passionate about, and what can be done TODAY to engage their own community and grow deep roots.

Whether it's carving spoons, making my own hand tools, restoring my antique truck or growing heirloom tomatoes, the farm and workshop definitely keep me busy and support - whether financially through Patreon, through shopping my affiliate links, through buying merchandise, plans or project videos, or even just liking, commenting, and sharing my content with others helps me GREATLY to keep producing quality content to share.

Gardening, ranching, carpentry, cheese making, spoon carving, metal working, pizza oven builder... Is there anything you can't do? You are amazing.

I watch a lot of YouYtube boot videos and this is absolutely the best! I have never seen all of these on the same video 1. Custom designed boots 2. How they are made 3. A non employee doing the build. Just amazing! Excellent job Anne and Nick's.

This is and shall remain my all-time favorite "Anne" video.
You did a fantastic job!
I was a custom bootmaker many years ago and this really brought back some memories. Pro tip: when stitching the soles - approach the curved needle stitcher like you're mad at it, not like you're scared of it. 😂

Anne, this video made me grin! I once had a pair of boots repaired and shined at Nick’s while I waited. It was several years back, when they were maybe working on that nice showroom. You did a fantastic job — when can we get the Nash? 😍

And I didn't even get to see the boots at the Homesteaders conference in Coeur d'Alene 😢. What a fun video. ❤

*Anne, wow it is amazing to see how boots are made... I also get it about small feet. I watched a pair of Harley Davidson boots sit in a HD shop for 3 years... and finally they dropped the price thanks to the manager... and I walked out with that pair of HD boots. I have had them resoled once. The joys of not only being a shortie (4ft 12inches tall) but also having a size 2(NZ) size foot, and the boot was slightly wider to fit my wide foot.*

Annie, I’ve admired your work for many years. It absolutely warms my iced over heart to see you exploring and showcasing another trade skill. I’m an auto tech, so, same vein, but I’ve been a crafter and maker all my life. You do good works ma’am. Anyone says otherwise is a damned fool. Thank you, thank you so much. Among my other friends on this platform you’ve helped me through a horrific time. I think I’ll go break out the stitching pony and 8oz. I’m feeling inspired, as opposed to depressed for once.

Girl I am so impressed! I made my life’s work using the same tools you were using but in my shoe repair business. You did a great job at each step. Be very proud of those boots!
