My husband and I love watching videos like this. It’s so nice to have a content creator who’s showing us the cool small towns here in Texas.

The old gas station, is known as the Crossroads Tavern or the Cat Spring Country Club, I think. But on Friday nights you can get some of the best fried catfish in the county right there!

Yes, there are big cats in Texas. The Mountain Lion (or Puma, Cougar) is indeed native to a large portion of Texas, including central and south Texas.

The town is actually Cat Spring, but the Texas Centennial marker reads Cat Springs.

Puma is the same thing as a cougar, mountain lion and a half dozen other names for the same animal, which is a member of the cat family.

A 12-sided shape is known as a, dodecagon. Didn’t know that right off the top of my head, had to look it up, now we know.

Looks like a black and yellow longhorn beetle and then a banana spider.

Mr Z taught my husband auto mechanics in school, he collected cars, buses, tractors, they are all his, he owns the whole block and his family has cleared a lot since his passing. And yes, do NOT go in his barn, it’s a death trap. My husband said the building next to the post office was once a mechanic shop. You really need to go inside the post office (has to original) and inside the agriculture hall is really cool, reminds me of hope floats movie. Mustang Ally is open by appointment and occasional weekends. Let me know if you ever come back I have amazing poster size print of the bustling downtown in black and white, my late mil was the keeper of the Cat Spring history house, and it’s still here on our place with display cases full of artifacts. I inherited a lot of old framed documents as well, beautiful lithographs, birth and baptismal records in English and German.

Thanks for doing my home town. I really enjoy your videos. On a side note that noise you get when opening the drivers side door on your ram can be fixed by spraying silicon lube on the very top of the hinge pin and let it soak in.

My brother and sister-in-law live in Cat Spring. You have to go down a dirt road, though. A lot of nice people and homes. He has some land, and bobcats are plentiful. When you pull into his driveway, there are rabbits everywhere! I love going to visit. They go to Columbus or Sealy for everything. All the family gatherings are at his house. It’s a nice area. I go to Columbus to their drivers license office. They are so nice in there. Much better than Houston! I live in Katy, so it’s a short drive to Cat Spring!😊

Again, thank you Mayor, for boots on the ground, in all these small, towns. One day, all we may have of some of the structures in these small towns, will be the images contained herein, in your videos.

At the Texas State Fair there is a nature exhibit with a extinct big spotted cat preserved by taxidermist.

I don't know about Pumas, but I know a few Cougars…😉🤠 11:03 Looks like an old Dance Hall to me.

My dad used to work at gravel pits around eagle lake and Columbus and he has seen some pumas and either Jaguarundi or Black panther
If you ever do eagle lake there's a beautiful home on Walnut Ave that's for sale, so if you're curious as to what it looks like on the inside you can look it up online

I wonder where the few residents get their groceries from. Love the farmhouse - looks like it has the old fashioned glass windows.

The Hall was designed and first built in 1902 by my great (x 2 or 3) grandfather Joachim Hintz. He also constructed the hall in Bellville as well as several others in the surrounding area. As others have mentioned, it is officially Cat Spring. "Spring" being singular not plural. Great videos though. You are highlighting the area my family has lived in since the mid-1800's.

Fun video! Interesting old community. Those darn spiders are everywhere this time of year I guess. Haven’t seen a mountain lion but have seen a few bobcats. I do think there are still mountain lions in certain areas of the state, though. Probably been a while since any have been seen Cat Spring.

Yes, there are still big cats sometimes. Mainly bobcats and wild hogs nowadays.
