No, we don’t need increased access to higher education given its current quality. We need higher quality of education, showing young people how to think for themselves and be critical thinkers. Pushing masses through low quality courses doesn’t accomplish anything useful.

Throwing massive amounts of money at an already inflated system is what you call a feedback loop. Figure out where the increased costs are coming from.(some of us know).

Yes, higher education for all. But at our Elite schools, a Lowered education standard to accommodate Lower quality students brings down the entire country. Educate all but don’t bring down the potential of our smartest( minorities & all), for a project to accommodate some minorities. The future of our country needs these brilliant students to reach their highest potential. Make a place for everyone to reach to their highest potential without reducing the potential of our most brilliant.

So easy to hear in people’s voice when they 1 don’t actually care what they are talking about, and 2 have rehearsed these talking points over and over again. Higher education in the US is just another BIG BUSINESS.

Cardona's first comment is an indication of what's wrong with our education system. It absolutely is not his primary responsibility to make sure students are safe. That's not even in the top 3 or 4. The responsibility to make sure that people are safe lies with law enforcement and security forces. His departments primary responsibility is to make sure that students get a high quality, unbiased education. Once you get passed that, His next responsibility is to make sure that students graduate and become self-reliant. This means creating coursework for those who will become plumbers and woodworkers, and not try to turn everyone into philosophers or rocket scientists
Then they need to be sure that students can differentiate between facts and feelings.
Then he needs to make sure that the system teaches students to envision a future for themselves and take organized steps to make that happen.
He needs to reorganize our college and university accreditation process to allow business and competition to bring down the ridiculous price of obtaining an education.

This overwhelming leaning towards making sure that everybody is always safe, is also preventing people from growing up to be good investors, entrepreneurs, shrewd business people because those types of people don't play it safe. They take risks. They educate themselves regarding a subject matter then pursue a goal.
He shouldn't be spending any energy on making sure students are safe. He should be directing the community, parents, law enforcement, & security to do that.
