You’ve probably tried many strategies to get your kids to listen to you. Most, if not all, have failed miserably. Why is that? Is it because they don’t trust your opinions or ways? They do respect you, but you don’t make a strong argument. You’re too sensitive and way too accommodating to your kids that anything you might want to say has been diluted through editing and re-editing of your words, over and over again.

Now your parents and grandparents, they didn’t sugar coat anything. They not only told it how it was, but they concocted all sorts of imaginative narratives to strike fear in you so that you wouldn’t question their words. You then wholeheartedly listened to their words as would a pet listen to their master.

Their secret was an eternal tool used by all humanity throughout the ages, fear. Fear camouflaged in the form of legends, stories and the mysterious that reflected what they wanted to say, without necessarily saying it.

This legend speaks in the language of fear and has relayed a simple message for many centuries. Don’t stay out in the sun, or else you’ll get burned. Burned in more ways than you can imagine.
