In this episode of editorial, Mr. Sujit Nair discusses about the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023. During the Winter Session, a significant development took place as the Rajya Sabha approved the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023 on December 12. The purpose of this bill is to oversee the appointment, terms of service, and tenure of the chief election commissioner (CEC) and other election commissioners (EC), and to establish the procedure for the functioning of the Election Commission. Originally introduced on August 10, the bill underwent consideration and passage in the upper house on Tuesday after a comprehensive debate, with Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal presenting it for approval.

Honestly the exclusion of CJI doesn't matter at all considering how the Supreme Court has sided with the Government on all important matters of late.

After seeing the recent judgements, I agree with you 100%. Not only that I see a bigger threat for states & federal concepts of our forefathers.

You hit the nail on the head.
In the last 10 years no decision of the supreme court has gone against the govt.
All spineless judges.
Present cji great disappointment.

Absolutely agree with you sujit bcoz judiciary in India is a mockery. Today if you have money and political influence in India you can finish anyone you want. This is why till today India has not and will never become a safe nation for the poor and the vulnerable.

The SC had said that they would intervene in Manipur if the government didn't do anything in seven days. Neither the government nor the SC did anything even months later. Therefore, you can safely assume that the CJI being anywhere will have any difference.

What happens to SC order to take action on Manipur? Is there any intervention that happens after the order to cool down the situation when a manipuri women parade naked? We are living in an era of mafia raj. Cannot expect any justice from the constitutional functions.

THE JUDGEMENT IS NOW GOING TO SPLIT TAMILNADU INTO FRAGMENTS. PAVES THE WAY TO DICTATORSHIP. WE HAVE LOST ALL FAITH IN THE SUPREME COURT NOW. VERY VERY SAD.

NAIR SIR, you are absolutely right, the JUDICIARY always keeps the BACK DOOR open for the Government and to impress the public, they say, the Constitutional words and language . Just only to say

Supreme Court seems to be neutral when giving judgement on minor issues. But on major issues the SC falls in line with the Central Government. So, exclusion of CJI from Election Commission is a non issue now.

It is observed that SC what we thought after coming in Dr. Chandrachud is not giving any results in line with public perception. Modi and his Govt has bagged SC also. 😢😢
