Maldives Plans Roadshows in India as Boycott Campaign Bites | Vantage with Palki Sharma

A Maldivian travel association is planning to hold roadshows in key Indian cities in a bid to woo back Indian tourists who have begun boycotting the island nation. The announcement was made after members of the association met India's top diplomat posted in the Maldives. Indians made up the largest chunk of foreign tourists visiting the Maldives in 2023, but the number has fallen considerably in the first four months of 2024. Indian tourists have slipped from first to sixth on the list of foreign tourists. The boycott was triggered by derogatory comments made by then-Maldivian ministers at India and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Can roadshows resolve this diplomatic row?
