Cool episode. It great to see how much you enjoy working with the guys. Practices were always my favorite part of coaching, the aspect of the job you will look back on fondly

Whetmore’s guys would have just done a hard 10 and then gone on to kick everyone’s butts.

How many times did he say spicy in this video?

Carlsen clearly doesn’t understand lactate. How do you assign the whole team at 2.5 and not individualize at all? Super embarrassing for a school like Colorado. Sloppy blood testing as well.

I would be curious to know if they take a base lactate reading of the athletes before the workout starts

“You don’t need speed in cross country” very interesting take to me. what about kicking? My belief is that you gotta do speed year round. Because it’s not gonna hurt you and you’re gonna be really well set up for kicking in xc and the 800m & 1600m in track.

Carlson is not a genius tbh. He folded at Tennessee despite having 30 men on his roster and think abt how many pros came out of his coaching. Just two. Yared and Dylan Jacobs
