Mike was smart in this scene by forcing Harvey to answer the question. He knew Harvey would respond asking Mike the question of how he did it. Mike being the attorney and not the witness on stand can freely lie and it not be perjury in this instance. I know this is a mock trial so it doesn’t matter anyway but it’s a good strategy for the real thing.

We all know of people who hardly ever went to class yet still managed to make excellent grades. I had a fraternity brother who was a drunk yet a genius. Constantly blew off the same classes I attended yet had better grades. I always studied, he hardly studied. Life is not fair.

Tbh if there really is a youngest partner ever at the most competitive law firm in the world who has a photographic memory just comes out and says in court that he never needed to go to class to graduate law school with high grades, I would’ve totally believed him if I sit on that jury instead of believing the theory that he never went to law school. And frankly even if he didn’t, it didn’t matter to me anymore because he is a damn good lawyer. The intention of the law school and the bar are to serve as a standard that makes sure attorneys are capable and professionally knowledgeable. If you are smart and knowledgeable enough without it, personally I think there is no need to waste the time and money and energy. Abe Lincoln was also a self-taught attorney and was good at it.

Obtaining a degree without traditional classroom attendance is feasible, with several approaches available. The most direct method involves contesting the courses. However, this presents challenges for many students. Not only is the process difficult—requiring a deep understanding of the subject—but it also disqualifies the use of student loans. Contesting a course necessitates paying the entire tuition fee plus an extra examination cost, which may be exorbitantly high. While instructors have the authority to deny a challenge, it is generally frowned upon if they do so. Drawing from my experience with a Master’s in Computer Science and 13 years of teaching at various colleges and universities, I’ve observed only two instances of students challenging my courses and both received 100% on their challenge exams and both went on to receive full scholarships to MIT. That is why I loved this show, there are people in this world who are incredibly intelligent and talented and they can do amazing things.
