On the actual Film set of the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning train crash stunt, filmed in Derbyshire England. A detailed look at the steam train, the film set and the surrounding area with my own exclusive footage of the train crash. This is a timeline of events that led up to the big day when they drove the replica full-size steam train off a 200ft cliff for the final crash scene in Tom Crusie's latest blockbuster film. The locomotive flies through the air in spectacular style before crashing into the quarry below. The train was built specifically for the film & resembles a BR Britannia and has been named Le General Rive-Reine which relates to the 1964 war film 'The Train'.

wow so they really did drive a train of a cliff it wasn't just CGI. And then he does a base jump for real.

The fact that they built a BR Class 7 this late in modern times is amazing

Just saw the film and once that train goes over the cliff, things get crazy and crazier.

It’s a fun film. 2 hours and 43 minutes but it goes by smoothly.

Pollution in pure nature for a movie. Decadence.

The crash of a real loco in the film 'Le Train' knocked out several of the static cameras. Where were the clouds of steam in this one? Not so realistic!

You have missed the other half of the doomed loco's easter egg name. Not only Rive-Reine from 'The Train', but Le General from the Buster Keaton movie.

Scania truck steering wheel, cut down. Not Rover.

Back to the future part 3 was more impressive even for a model mock up.
This seemed to be lacking for a movie spectacular.

But those behind the scenes pictures are to die for.
Amazing work, well done

I saw the trailer in the cinema. It amazes me that all that prep goes into something that'll be a 20 second sequence on the film. Great that they do it for real though.
Great final shot though.

to those wondering - no locomotives were desroyed in the making of this film. It was a purpose built prop

however, another film (the new Indiana Jones film) did put swastikas on a 9F and rolling stock during filming at the NYMR

This is probably how most of the jumps from the Dukes of Hazzard looked off camera.
