Today, if you want to be songwriter and get far you've got to produce music and work with other producers. You can't start understanding musical structure until you get into a DAW and start working on beats and rearranging instruments. Playing keys or guitar is also a must.

i’ve been writing music since i was 16 i’m 28 now, i’ve written songs for my wife and a few friends i know it doesn’t sound like much but i can pretty much freestyle a song for any person as long as i’ve heard their style and the way they sing/rap once i digest their tone i can make a song for them. im just curious how i promote this ?

The issue I keep coming across is I listen to AWHOLE lot of music and I'll have an idea that im not sure if I just came up with on spot or is it some random line stuck in my head from some obscure band and then I sit there like...."do I write it down?"
