This is not a fail or disappointment in any way to me, its what I expected at a card that costs only $239.00. In new games and DX12 it does 60FPS and that is solid.Plus look at the minimum power requirements that in itself is a win win...

I have to say I am laughing at all the BS comments from some folks. I used old drivers? Get real they would not work. Complain I did not use a 1070 or 1080, and then complain I used an OC version of a 970, , Big Deal its clearly stated. AMD is going to punish me for an NDA break? My NDA shows what is what on my end and no one is mad. Saying I was paid by NVIDIA to make AMD look bad? Really if that is the case why is AMD happy with my work... So many of you have things so twisted in your head its crazy. I ALWAYS HAVE SUPPORTED AMD even when they ignored me for 10 years so you have no idea what you are saying. Also my test system and method of testing is my own and my scores just may be different that anyones else and that I feel separates me from the pack.

The sheer stupidity of some people here amazes me...
Let's get some things straight:

1. This STOCK RX480 is benchmarked against a OVERCLOCKED Gtx 970. Of course the RX480 will lose, because it isn't overclocked.

2. About overclocking: I know the RX480 doesn't overclock well, but this is a reference card. Have you seen the heatsink on this thing?

Of course it won't OC well, because it can't get rid of all the heat with that tiny heatsink. Wait for aftermarket coolers with larger heatsinks, those will definitely OC better.

Lastly, this card was expected to perform in between the gtx 970 (NON OC!) and gtx 980 (also non OC). Anyone who said otherwise overhyped this card too much.
Also, comparing the RX480 to the gtx 1070/1080 is just stupid, seeing the gtx 1070's price is ~$450 at the moment, which is a whole different price class.

For just $200 this card has great performance that rivals last generation's $300-$400 cards.

2. HBAO+ nvidia technology like a physx, etc and decrease FPS on Radeon cards

It's a disappointment to be honest, where is the "980 performance" even slower than a 970 which you can get now for under 200$. (for the slow ones on the internet, yes I am talking used)

in other test r9 390 on hyper settings destroys the 970

Hmmm. Something is fishy. The one major public benchmark we had for the 480 was for 'Ashes of Singularity'. Yet in your benches the 480 is not only worse than the 390 and 290X, but also worse than the 980, in a game everyone knows performs bad on Team Green's cards because they don't use any of Green's special tech.

Benchmark results are not impressive.. is it a driver issue? I at least expected it to shit on 970...
