Amazing video as always and thank you for the time and effort you put in. If you're buying the A9 then the extra $800 to get a 24-70 GM is nothing and makes sense because you've invested in a $4, 000 camera. I advise everyone not to follow this advice that if you're planning on switching to Sony don't adapt this lens. You don't have to break the bank to switch to Sony. You can get amazing shots with these adaptive lenses no matter the job. Invest at your pace and feel confident about this lens.

Hi. Just bought the new version of The Sigima 24-70 2.8, the DG DN one which you actually tested. Mine is producing similar noise to this one whilst focusing. Did your DG DN version behave similar to this one in terms of noise whilst focusing ?

Farout, that autofocus is so much faster on the A9 compared to my A7 III.

Like my 24-70 f2.8 ART with MC11 adapter literally racks all the way to one side of the barrel and then slowly finds focus before locking on. It is so slow! The weird thing is the lens is capable of blazingly fast focusing in AF-C.

Makes no sense at all. This is the same on my A7R II.

To me it seems the choice should be the GM. The Sigma and the adapter together cost only about US$ 100 less. The Sigma is probably excellent on a camera not needing an adapter. I would say the adapter is likely the main contributor to the focusing concerns. On the other hand, the Sigma lens is noisy.

Someone should sample your beats at 0:36. Put a video together with a string of your beats and the auto focus of the camera.

Kinda like shooting with a bolt action rifle. I got the Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 that I use with my A6500. Sounds and works pretty much the same as your video. I call it clunky. But I can get some sharp photos and slightly better low light performance than my Sony 18-105mm.

hello Jason, if I have no af lens, should I buy one Tamron 24-70 f2.8 with mc-11 on a7ii? Im an a7ii user.
The seller is my friend, he sells this lens with a nice price that made me consider for a long time, beside I have no af lens, my situation is that other fe lens is a little bit hard to afford.

More than 2, 000 on a lens and I can calibrate the lens using the Sigma USB dock and gotten to know how to calibrate lenses (Sigma with Sony bodies) well

the gm is blazing fast. in an instant I see the flowers in focus, I don't even see it's focusing. though with the phone booth, sometimes it gives suggestion to focus on the back.

that got me thinking, wouldn't it be awesome if sony can make the front dial set to scroll focus.
-click focus, camera focus on wrong subject.
-scroll dial to change subject in focus, without altering any composition. by face or by depth. like don't focus face registered 1, but face registered 5 for this particular shot. or scroll between foreground, middle ground and background

and can make continuos focus brackets.

the sigma lens sometimes can not nail the focus properly even with canon camera, sigma is a sharp and durable lens but it is just a third party lens for canon, nikon and sony.

Hi Jason, I am trying to get a A7IV but want to use my sigma 24 to 70mm lens EF count onto sony E mount using MC-11 adapter. Do you think the performance will be very similar?
