I live in Luxembourg and just want to clarify that the protesters at the conference were almost all British. They were UK citizens unhappy with Boris Johnson and the state of Brexit negotiations.

The empty podium and the empty chair. It's symbolic of Britain's future as diminished and irrelevant as Europe and the world moves on.

Thanks for not beating around the bush. Maybe, some time, the brexiteers from Cameron on, will understand that it is not possible to have both deep economic integration and full national sovereignty. Even Cameron did not understand this, as can be seen by his 2013 Bloomberg speech. There is this ideology that all the benefits of the Single Market could be achieved by intergovernmental cooperation, and I haven't yet met a leaver who does not sign up to this myth. Thus, brexiteers wait for the EU to change accordingly ...

The only one talking sense on the subject in the UK is Sir Ivan Rogers.

I think most sensible people in the UK want to stay in the EU. There are however a lot who don’t like the EU, maybe because they read the Daily Mail and other drivel, and they loved the anti-immigrant campaign pushed by Leave. Anyway, we are where we are. Best outcome for most would be to reunite Ireland 🇮🇪.
