We’ve all been nervous while ordering at a new restaurant, but for the most part, if it’s a high-quality eating establishment, you can’t go wrong. However, there are a few embarrassing things that people order in restaurants that will cause the chefs or wait staff to roll their eyes when they hear the order. No proper chef wants to destroy all the flavor in a steak by preparing it well done, and there are certain alcoholic beverages that you just shouldn’t order in adulthood. I'm a cook, a bartender, and a server, and I have to say that all of these are a load of bull. I don't care how you want your steak, you get it how you want it. I am not bothered if you want hot tea, why should I be? There are literal machines in the back that give piping hot water at the press of a switch. Want ranch? I'll get you ranch. Want to eat with a fork? WHO CARES? The only thing that is slightly annoying is when a group of people end up ordering a bunch of drinks with a mass amount of ingredients while I have people waiting patiently and they don't leave so much of a dime as a tip... but that's nothing to do with what they want so much as it does cement why the tipping system is stupid. By all means, though, order whatever you want and whenever you want it. Don't listen to silly videos online trying to steer you away from the things you want.

The most embarassing thing you can do at a restaurant is change what you want because some youtube video or restaurant snob said you should. Order that steak well done idgaf because I know im dipping my filet in ketchup.

When I go somewhere and they sell what I want, I'll buy it. Who cares if they have to go through "a few extra steps" or will "silently mock" me?? Who gives a damn about that? If they got it on the menu you should instantly order it if you want it without any doubts or regrets. Anything else is nonsensical

Smh.. A lot of steps for tea? Step one. Boil water Step two. Pour hot water in cup. Step 3. Bring hot water with tea bag to table. Done. Extra tip for hot water? Foh LOL

Contrary to belief there is a correct way to cook a well done steak and not just cooking it to oblivion. Slowly bring it up to about 145 degrees on indirect heat and sear it over direct heat til internal temp is at 155-160. Let it rest about 10 minutes, steak will slightly continue to cook during this time and all steaks benifit from a resting period. Then bam you got a well executed well done steak.


In the end though, order your steaks how you like them but medium rare doesnt get any better.

I can’t even smell ranch dressing without gagging, much less actually eat it. If owned a restaurant I’d keep a ton of it there because I know people want it. I’m not so arrogant to say no you can’t have ranch dressing because I don’t like it. I’d get pissed if someone told me I couldn’t have ketchup with my food.

Fun fact: It is illegal to order a Long Island Iced Tea in Massachusetts. You can absolutely make it yourself at home, but Mass decided to put a cap on how many different types of liquors you can have in one dirnk, and liit passes that number by 1.

Re. the steak. A high end, dry aged Porterhouse at a 4+ star restaurant, well done, is lipstick on a pig. Ranch on caviar? Ketchup on hotdogs? Snobbery? Absolutely.
