Sister Sledge - We Are Family and Chic - C'est Chic are two of my favorite albums of the 70's. Disco masterpieces.

Thanks for posting this it is really fun to see what memories you have. In Sweden, these songs did not become popular until 1½ years later because it took time to find their way up to Sweden. We in Sweden did not have this kind of program we had in the 70's 2 early 70's Up and pop (Upp o Popa) it was held at Gröna lund in Stockholm on an outdoor stage and later part of the 70's Awesome Friday ( Häftig Fredag) in a studio where it was recorded youth problems at the same time. So thank you to experience this in older days.

No mention of Blondie. The biggest selling act the entire year. Ridiculous.

1979 was one of the best years of my life. I was 19 and spent most of the year following Queen on tour. Happy days!!

Whenever I hear the name Garry Newman, I can't help thinking of The Mighty Boosh.

1979 was when I started to watch TOTP, 11 years old and just in awe, what did I know?

What a joke that people like Johnny Rotten called songs by people like Nile Rodgers as crap and then you hear Rotten performing that worse-than-crap song. No wonder music became crap.

A great dollop of nostalgia there. Always list 1979 as my favourite years in music. Thanks for uploading.

1979 was the best year of my life. I was eighteen, which was a wonderful, magic age at one time. Donna Summer was all over the charts, although the #1 single of the year was "My Sharona" by The Knack here in the US. "Alien" was the big movie. I had nonstop fun that year. Lord, I'd love to go

I love these videos! Makes me wish I could have visited over there and seen these shows live.

It sucks about the audio drop outs. People aren't losing a single cent from their song being heard here, but they might gain a sale from the being heard here.

Seventeen and Living in Hamburg at the time seeing all those checkered posters in the subway advertising live gigs of two tone bands The Selector, Madness and The Specials that German City had an instant direct link to the British music scene ...what a great time that was !

Thank you for uploading these documentaries, I just discovered them. I loved the music from the 70's and 80's. Growing up in the United States we had American Bandstand and Soul Train. I read most of the comments about the audio and I hope that doesn't stop you from uploading any future TOTP The Story of episodes. I was wondering what acts were muted in this episode? It's fun to discover music that didn't cross over to the United States around that decade.

46:00 my mate rented that house in the late 90s. We were astounded to find out it had been the 2-tone office, we were both big fans of it.
