If there are geologists on this planet 40 million years in the future, they will be a different species. Hopefully not another nasty, greedy, selfishly predatory little primate. But perhaps the answer to Fermi's paradox is simply that the development of the skill set that will allow you to survive until technology, dooms you to self destruction.

Synthetic fertilizers. Means the synthetic must evolve technologically to continue farming. Adaptive farming? Mobile or insitu?

the climate scientists dont seem to ask what is a sustainable human population - maybe its too contingent - but the question is rarely if ever considered in any depth and degree, nor is the impact of climate change on other species, as if only humans matter to them.... in contrast the few biologists Ive raised climate change with know better and are all very very pessimistic.
