How African Masks Inspired Picasso's Cub

Pablo Picasso was deeply inspired by African art, particularly tribal masks, to develop his cubist style. Although it is no secret that non-Western cultures influenced modernism, it is less known that some of the shapes and lines that Picasso used in works such as Les Demoiselles d'Avignon are directly inspired by African art masks.
