Drupal 8 Theming - Part 21 - Pathauto

In this episode of Drupal 8 Theming tutorial I'm going to show you how to use Pathauto module to create pretty URLs for your site.

Pathauto is a module that allows you to create patterns for your URLs. For example you can set it to show all the articles URLs to something like "articles/date/name-of-article" instead of "node/12" , which is not very human readable as you can imagine.

Pathauto is one of those modules that is on most popular modules lists for years. I'm surprised that it still didn't make it's way into the core. Well, maybe in Drupal 9...

Just like all the others who have posted here, thanks many thanks for posting these video tutorials. You made something that was very confusing, now understandable. I this this video on pathauto is not necessary with the new drupal 8. It already has a way to add aliases for every node. But i will watch anyway just in case i come across an old drupal site. In drupal 9 the new link only started to work after doing bulk generate and flushing cache afterwards if it helps anybody

Many thanks for this tutorial. I watched (and learned) it twice. At first I had problems with your Gulpfile but that had something to do with version conflicts with the latest Gulpjs version. Especially the lesson about reference field had my attention and my request for another video-tut has something to do with that subject.
My first request would be: Can you explain how you can make content only available for a certain logged in user? For example: A user can add certain kinds of movies, that other users can not see...
My second request would be more complicated: Is it possible to make a "Drupal-version" of a one-to-many relationship (like in Access) between content? To stick with your Movies app: Each movie has a bunch of merchandise, especially for that certain movie. I want to have a listing of those merchandise products while visiting the Movie page. And is it possible to make an ADD button on that movie page that will allow the user to add more "movie-specific" products?
I know that I used strange examples. Sorry for that. I hope you get what I mean.
