This is what happens when you peak in high school. Our bodies are fine tuned machines, lots of moving parts. Without a stronger base, your arm and shoulder just physically can not take 100 on the gun repeatedly unless you build your body to be able to.

Ohtani peaked in high school throwing 104, he destroyed his UCL in the process. He needs to hit the weight room and build a stronger frame that can handle 100mph if he wants to keep throwing gas.

I also think the Angels and MLB are pressuring him too much into being this next Ichiro Suzuki. Give my man Shohei some time and space to relax, actually heal up, and figure out who he is as a player. He has the potential to be great, he just needs to slow down and listen to his body and focus on himself for a little while.

Hoping for a safe and healthy recovery.

He lost his mind by that miscall
I’ve seen so many miscalls on him as a fan

03:52 Literally one of the worst calls I've ever seen. Not only was that well within the strike zone, it started in the very middle of the strike zone and went a little right, never leaving the strike zone. It looked like a fastball. It's not like there was weird or even a lot of movement on it. Instead of getting out of the inning with his 4th strikeout in 2 innings and 0 ER, Ohtani gets charged with 2 ER in 1 and 2/3rd.

Dang I feel bad for him with that arm injury. It’s never good to have arm soreness after TJ surgery. It’s such a shame to see a player like him who pitchers and bats because there hasn’t been any other player who has done that since Babe Ruth and that was a long time ago. Sending my prayers to him for a speedy and healthy recovery

The "Splitter" aka Split-Finger - when paired with a high-velocity, high-backspin four seam fastball - is one of the most devastating forms of a "change-up" and can be utilized as one of the very best strikeout pitches in the game. Tim Lincecum comes to mind as one of the recent, great strikeout pitchers to utilize this pitch as his primary swing-and-miss off-speed pitch. Sadly, this pitch also seems to destroy young pitching arms. Hopefully Ohtani does not lose his fastball the way Lincecum did after only 2 or 3 seasons in the major leagues.

Well the lack of control was evident.
But in the other hand, no one could hit while hi was on the mound.
Time will tell if shohei will be a pitching material for major.
But I do believe that he is.

His last pitch should have been strike 3

With so much time away from the mound, he needs to get back his feel for his pitches for better control and he seems out of gas after just 40 pitches as well but I could be wrong. He needs to build up his pitching again
