Mr. Beast was a basement dwelling teenager who figured YouTube out and made a lot of money. He seemingly has no life experience other than that. His opinions and thoughts on matters seem largely irrelevant to me.

I live in Minnesota. Everyone in Minnesota who is over the age of 40 probably met Prince. And if you ever met him you would never forget it. Brilliant musician and songwriter and singer artist, and a very sweet and wonderful man who did more for this world than anyone ever bothered to document. No one heard about all of the magnificent things he did. He gave our schools hundreds of thousands of dollars in musical instruments. Free concerts for the kids that went under the radar because he didn't want the press and Sony to come after him even harder. And yet he was the loneliest man. I really miss him a lot

Prince was very outspoken against online streaming, so his music videos weren't even allowed on YouTube until after he passed. I'm surprised nobody is mentioning that here, because it limited his reach with the younger generation for quite some time.

A bunch of people around my age (22) aren't too big into older music unless their parents played it for them. Im in the same boat, but now i listen to more bands from those eras than my parents who grew up as it was happening.

I am trying to get my friends into Rush since theyre my favorite band, and it's working. My best pal has liked them since i showed them and he showed them to coworkers and roomates who also like it but havent listened to them on their own. Last week i caught 3 of them adding Rush to their playlists at a party.

I've met a lot of people who not only don't listen to music but actively dislike it. It's not to surprising to me. Many people live in their own world and are singularly focused with their interests only.

Last Tuesday one of my 10 year old students asked me if i could teach him the chords to Purple Rain....a 10 year old. I was so happy for him. I recommend students and parents to watch your channel; I consider what you are doing for music to be at the same level of importance and relevance as Bernstein Young People's Concerts. I think one reason Prince is not well known to younger people is that he was very strict with his music being posted on the internet. Before he died, his music was not on any streaming platforms and almost none of his music videos were on Youtube. Most of his music was not easily available in the formats most young people use, so I don't think they had a lot had exposure. When artists are not on these platforms, it is harder for people to find your music or discover it on accident. If artists want to remain relevant and not date themselves, I think they have to use these platforms.

With all due respect, as someone who’s a huge (old) music fan and not a Mr Beast fan, I honestly don’t understand why this is so shocking to many people. Yes, Prince was incredible and should be remembered, but a lot of people didn’t grow up with this type of music and many are just not as interested in music as you (or me) might be. Just like you might not understand the “hype” around certain celebrities or athletes, others don’t understand the love people have for Prince and his music. And although it’s hard to understand sometimes, it’s completely normal that people have different interests and it really shouldn’t be that big of a deal…
