It's unfortunate that you have to create so many workarounds in Figma in order to be able to create something as simple as a dropdown list. Imagine how much connections you'd have to make if you wanted a dropdown with 10 items! When it takes less time to actually code the design instead of prototype in Figma, that's a sign that Figma is inefficient for prototyping purposes.
