thanks for putting this together - im surprised that photoshop with its additional features but lack of framerate option for GIF came out worse - plus you would think they would share same export engine and have similar results - good to know

You forgot to play with the dithering options in Photoshop! Those are crucial for getting the most out of the limited color palette, and should have helped give you a significant leg-up in Photoshop! Way less banding, and you can get away with fewer colours in total. I'd love to see a mini update where you try out the dithering options, because it's night and day
