It was a rhetorical question. Obviously there was a civil war over the slavery issue, but Trump was pointing out that it could've been solved without war (in his opinion). How ironic that you people in the comments are calling Trump stupid when you don't understand what a rhetorical question is. This is #fakenews

Libs - listen again - first phrase is "had he been a little bit later...". And "Why was there a Civil War?" is rhetorical. Many profiteers in that war, as in more recent wars. Please be smarter!

You guys are unreal, I mean come on, you're so quick to shit on him but you don't think critically. I'm near complete with my BA in History and it is common question to ask about the Civil War. It wasn't simple and to think it was is crazy. His comment on Jackson, I can see why that would be messed up to say about but Jackson was very much a strong willed person and i feel that all Trump was trying to say in regards to him.
