Recreation centers, community halls, libraries, churches, fraternity halls, evacuation centers, schools, celebration venues, depending on the circumstances.

Here's one for a normal situation - when you find the out of town hotel, if you have pets - find a nearby vet. Call and ask their policy on emergency boarding. Some people will of course take their dog with them to a house or hotel but others have cats. Multiple indoor only cats. Those have to be boarded and many vets won't take emergency boarding except from existing clients.

Having a trailer pre-staged even a small one with gear might not be a bad thing during certain times of the year like tornado season here in my area or hurricane season around the coast. When marks change really quickly in a bad situation so let’s say there’s an earthquake roads are going to be blocked, which is the reason why you do a route survey. Landmarks will disappear quickly. Having a good chainsaw to cut down trees that might be in your path is a great item to have. Yes it may be noisy, but hey, if it’s the only route you have due to other issues getting that tree out of the way will help. Lastly, do not forget about your pets. Things that they may need a leash and a rope if they have to be secured. Food, any medication’s for your animal.

If you've got the fuel money to spend, it's also a good idea to take different trips out along the routes at different times of the day.

There's a million different details that can change based on the time of day. There's the obvious like you might be blinded driving straight into the sun on a certain route at a certain time of the day. Or if you're driving by a school you might discover that they completely shut down the road for twenty minutes when school let's out.

A temporary bug-out plan is always good to have, but remember that you can run but you can't hide. You cannot comply your way out of tyranny nor can you run away from it hoping it won't reach your door one day. The society, and by extension, the world can only be in a good place based on the back by strong men who stand up for what they believe in. By not defending your home and standing your ground as a community, you are like a feather in the wind of life. Only when people are brave enough and learn to stand together against tyranny can freedom be acquired.

I'll often take my dogs out when I need to trespass.
I'll always have a ready line. "My dogs chased a rabbit in here and I was just following them in to see if they could catch it"

Sure it's not an excuse that will let me stay there... But it's a line that makes me seem harmless

Any thoughts about adding IR lighting and NV security camera system to your BOV? I realize that IR will stick out as much as headlights if the bad guys have NV also.
I happily discovered that my tail lights/brake lights can be disconnected with one easily accessible connection on the brake master cylinder on my old Scout 😉

Great ideas. Please, please do NOT just head out to the woods, particularly if it's not a state or county park (public land). Everything is owned by someone. Living in the rural area, I can assure you that your arrival will not be welcomed on private property. The higher the stress, the worse it will be.
