I honestly think that nintendo has big plans for Mario in the future but I believe we are going to get odyssey 2 during Nintendo's next console considering they're some rumors that the studio who made mario odyssey is making a new donkey kong game so odyssey 2 is way further ahead for me at least, so a linear mario game for the switch is way more believable for me, then odyssey 2 during the next console

Super mario odyssey 2 will include delphino island, cat kingdom, galaxy kingdom and other ideas that wasn't in the original super mario odyssey

By being linear it allows the player to experience new ideas faster than we ever have

I was curious if they can make a true open world game like botw where theres only one map but instead of hyrule the map has platforms and different areas in the mario franchise like isle delphino, princess peaches castle, bowsers castle, or some new locations where they are combined to one world and mario is able to explore all parts of the mario world

I prefer is why 3d world and land are my favorite 3d Mario games.
