when i was 9 my mom had already owned a beta fish for about 13 years. the highlights of my childhood are spent feeding “Mr. Fish” (his name) and taking care of him. When he passed i begged my mom to buy a tiny coffin and she finally gave in 😂 He is still in my backyard to this day! UPDATE: I moved away from that house, the new owners have about 3-5 fish skeletons in their backyard (your welcome)

I buried my first dead fish near a hibiscus, his name was Pearl, and he died from old age. He lived a happy life.

I always bury mine because it just feels right. They are my pets, I care for them.

Usually, when my fish die, I bury them in one of my potted plants, since I don’t have a garden or backyard. I think it is very respectful way of saying goodbye to them, because not only you give them a final place to rest but their bodies are “going back to nature” and helping the plants growth

When I was 8 I had a whole funeral with my friend and siblings for my pet fish Tiger. We even put a smooth rock with a fish drawn on it on the grave as a tombstone

I never understood people flushing them. I’ve buried every single one of my pets even as a child. My mother always taught me to treasure them that way. I used to have a budgie (I was a irresponsible child) but when he passed I was tasked with digging a hole in our garden and giving him a proper send off.


Idk flushing just seems so.. cold.
