This video is broken down into four main areas that you should focus on
We're also going to talk about some of the most common questions asked, as well as what you can do to best prepare yourself for answering them.
I'm also going to share the questions I've been asked for my 100k+ security jobs.
So if you're ready to get that knowledge, let's smash that like button and get started.
So again, you've probably noticed by now if you've watched any of my other videos, I kind of like to make these visual frameworks that can be used for accomplishing tasks.
I'm going to do the same thing for this video.
If you have no idea who I am or need some kind of baseline as to why I might be qualified to give this advice: My name is Josh, and I'm a master job-hopper. I made this video outlining my entire career in IT and Cybersecurity, which includes all my job titles, duties and salaries, so check that out if you need to!
Getting on to the checklist…!

Industry Exposure
The very first checkbox, (Industry Exposure) and the first thing you should implement to help out your interview game is to start listening to some quality podcasts, immediately.
You should do this for at least 5 days a week, for at least an hour a day.
There are two that I would highly, highly recommend.
1) Darknet Diaries by Jack Rhysider, this podcast is incredibly entertaining and has high production quality. He talks about all kinds of stories and incidents in the cyber world such as famous hackers and hacks, nation state APTs, the NSA, and all kinds of really cool stuff. it's very inspiring. Start listening from episode 1
2) The second podcast is The Cyberwire. Also a high production quality, but this podcast covers the latest news in the world of security.
You'll learn about a lot of industry leaders and what's going on in the world today.
There are commercials on this podcast, but even the commercials are useful to you, since they are often about security vendors and you can kind of learn what's out there
This step of listening to podcasts is important for a number of reasons.
It will passively improve your security vernacular, that is, the way you speak on the topic will improve over time, by A LOT.
This is incredibly important for your interview process.
In our industry, there is quite a bit of jargon, such as IoT, IoCs, TTPs, APT, as well as a lot of other interesting things like, the names of hacker groups: equation group, shadow brokers, lazarus group, fancy bear, cozy bear, and the like.
There are also a lot of obscure code names for famous hacks and exploits, such as stuxnet, heartbleed, petya, not petya, meltdown, eternal blue, and the list goes on!
Listening to these podcasts is something that should be done from DAY 1, as in right now, until you get your first job.
