I believe Oda had Kaido intentionally say it as a reminder because he would have Shanks making moves after Wano.
It shows you that being far to reliant on your devil fruit will get you crushed this far into the Story.

Shanks immediately going in for the kill after seeing the devastation Kid's attack caused just shows he acknowledged it as a threat, and followed his own advice by not making the same mistake as his peers. If Kid's still alive and his haki still doesn't bloom after this defeat, then it really is the end for him.

I think the true meaning of the chapter was to showcase the red hair pirates in total, secretly it's main purpose was to showcase shanks crutch which is his fleet is super weak and they're able to hide behind his Banner, but one day they will be a yonko War where he wont be able to compete. just like he did in this chapter he's going to have to put it upon himself to protect everybody granted his initial crew is going to be able to hold things down but not against us stronger Fleet like buggies. this is why the title of the chapter is called The redhead Pirates and Crew, we finally see his weakness

Let us not forget that pre time skip, Shanks stopped Kaido from going to Marineford and then himself showed up and told everyone that the war is over with. This man has consistently been on another level, he just doesn't need to flex unless he has to.

I think this was simply a straight forward message to kid that without conqueror's coating, he's stuck at a lower level than the yonko. Because that was the missing piece luffy found when fighting kaido too.

For the balance in the New World between the Yonko, it is actually explain in the chapter itself.

Shanks is the strongest Yonko and has the strongest crew, but he also has the weakest fleet by far. So he needs to compensate the power gap of Kaido and Big Mom armies (we saw their armies in Onigashima and Whole Cake) with only his crew. Shanks' fleet is a bunch of filler characters that he protects with his name.

So if for exemple Shanks was going to war with Big Mom it would be incredibly dangerous for him because Big Mom has a way bigger army than him. It also explains why at Marineford Whitebeard came with all his fleet to battle the navy, but Shanks only came with his main ship. His crew is equivalent to an entire Yonko army. This is what they meant when they said that he has the most balance crew.

The way i looked at it, Kidd had no defense up (armanent haki) because he was more focused on his attack. Kind of like Gon training to strike Hisoka when he was most vulnerable. Great vid btw

I think the diffrence between the divine departure that Shanks did against Kid compared to Rogers against Oden, is that Shanks used conquerers coating. Hence why Kids crew was passing out. Roger only used conquerers coating in the clash with Whitebeard and not against Oden.
Shanks went all out against Kid because he wanted to save his friends. Roger on the other hand was just casual greeting Oden
