0:11 - Tip 1: Trip plan.
0:20 – Tip 2: Check wipers during pre-trip checks.
0:27 – Tip 3: Turn on your headlights.
0:37 – Tip 4: Don’t drive on roads covered with standing water.
0:50 – Tip 5: Reduce your speed.
0:59 – Tip 6: Change speeds gradually.
1:05 – Tip 7: Increase your following distance.
1:15 – Tip 8: Don’t use your cruise control or engine brake.
1:28 – Tip 9: Use your stop work authority.

Good Advice! No matter what people think of Schneider they stress safety! A lot is common sense, unfortunately common sense isn't common!

Everybody always says it'll take X more feet or yards to stop in the rain but nobody ever says your tires might be reduced to one-half their normal traction in rain long BEFORE you start hydroplaning. And that means you shouldn't be shaving off 5 or 10 mph from your speed. You should probably slow down by half!

If you slam on breaks in rain and empty you’ll Jack knife. If you accelerate through corners your probability of Jack knife goes up.

So if I’m going down hill in heavy rain which I was today I had my engine brake on which limited the use of my foot brake but he says it’s not a good idea can somebody explain this new driver here
