Rolexes such as many other watch brands, does not use quartz batteries(not always true but in this case yeah), they use a mechanical movement, like watchmaking has been done for centuries

My dad was in the Air Force, and the year we were supposed to learn to tell time, moved in the middle of the year. The new school had taught it at the start of the year. I went years not knowing how to tell time, until I finally taught myself. Now I don't care about watches at all.

I have a watch that was a birthday gift from a friend - nice but not too fancy (a bulova mechanical watch, with a skeleton movement) . I still like to be able to just glance and see the time. It's the only watch I have - I am not really a collector.
