Story quote from the BG Daily News:
Abraham Williams, who served as executive director of the Housing Authority of Bowling Green for 29 years before retiring Aug. 1, died Sunday night at the age of 75. Katie Miller, current head of HABG, told the Daily News Williams was a “true pillar in this community. He helped everyone,” Miller said. “He saw potential, he saw needs, and he sought to help alleviate those and help individuals. His loss is just a detriment to the Housing Authority and the City of Bowling Green.” Miller said Williams’ death came as “a total shock” to HABG. She said funeral arrangements have yet to be set.
Williams, a native of Phenix City, Alabama, first came to Bowling Green in 1995. During his near 30-year leadership of the housing authority, he oversaw the expansion of the city’s affordable housing options.
Williams is often credited with cleaning up the housing authority. Miller said before he took over, HABG was “just public housing.”
