Syria's de facto leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa (Abu Mohammed al-Golani), has revealed plans for a significant restructuring of the Syrian military. Speaking at a joint press conference in Damascus with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, al-Sharaa announced the forthcoming formation of a defense ministry and a high-level military committee tasked with designing the new army's structure.

He emphasized the administration's commitment to disarmament, stating that arms outside state control, whether from revolutionary factions or the Syrian Democratic Forces, must be eliminated to restore security and stability. This process will include the gradual dissolution and integration of factions into the state military.
