"Ég ann þér" still means "I love you" in Icelandic but this is considered pretty archaic speech.

In modern Icelandic it is both ‘Ég elska þig’ and ‘Ég ann þér’, as in Old Norse. One can write ‘eg’ instead of ‘ég’ (the latter being with an intrusive j).

The modern Icelandic is very similar to modern Norwegian 'yeg elsker dere'

Faroese: eg elski teg. Love = kærleiki (ást and alskur* being archaic)

*: alskur has a modern meaning too

When Brynhilde burned herself on Sigurd's pyre after orchestrating his death, is that a Viking "hot date"?
